There are three basic types of quilling tools, one is a simple needle tool, one an eye tool and the other is a slotted tool. Any of these tools are suitable for all your quilling techniques from the very basic tight rolls up to the more difficult folded rose.

The needle tool requires more finger flexibility, but allows for finer quilling work to be done. The eye and slotted tools are more popular with beginners and young children, also for adults suffering from Arthritis or similar problems.
